Please Read Before Installing!
The person rowing, or controlling a vessel assumes full responsibility for safety and control of the vessel at all times while underway. RopeSeat.com is not responsible for accidents, damage, injuries, or death resulting from the inherent risk of boating, negligent boating behavior, or misuse of any RopeSeat.com product.
What you can expect
Our process and design are meant to provide you with quality materials and a product that will last a lifetime. This process starts with a large 6160 aluminum billet. It takes incredible machine force and several steps to create, shape and finish each Rope Seat. As a result, you may find tool marks and slight scuffs around Rope Seat’s bends and flat surfaces. This is minimized and unavoidable. It will not affect the strength, or longevity of Rope Seat and helps to make this product unique. New, or unwanted scuffs can be worked with an orbital sander using 180 grit sandpaper.
Fastening Rope Seat to the Boat or Raft
Included with each Rope Seat are four nuts, bolts and washers. Rope Seat is designed to fit most benches, seat brackets and swivel mounts. Installation requires a phillips head screwdriver and in some cases a 5/16” hole may need to be drilled. Raft installations may require additional brackets, tools and/or fasteners. RopeSeat.com recommends holding this seat in place before fastening to ensure proper fit and function. For hole patterns not included on the bottom of Rope Seat, it is possible to add holes in Rope Seat by using a common 5/16” drill bit or smaller. It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure all Rope Seat and Rope Seat accessories are safe and securely fastened to the boat, or raft frame before use. RopeSeat.com recommends removing all unfastened Rope Seat accessories before trailering or transporting the boat or raft.
Rope Adjustments
Rope Seat is the most customizable boat seat on the water. This seat comes standard with our signature rope pattern. Rowers can expect rope tension to settle and adjust slightly with use. This is often a comfortable outcome that seems to conform to the rower. Rope Seats can be adjusted for tension and support. RopeSeat.com recommends fastening the rope seat to the boat or raft before adjusting rope tension or pattern. To adjust Rope Seat tension in a particular spot, simply pull tension from one side or the other of the area to be changed. By doing this the rower can create “soft” spots and/or increase support anywhere in the rope pattern. To increase tension throughout the whole seat, pull slack one rope at a time from the front to the back. Tightening the whole seat requires untying the original triple hitch to remove slack. Use a triple hitch or other creative knot to tie off when finished. This Rope Seat is designed to be used with 50 ft of 1/4" rope. Replacement rope can be purchased at RopeSeat.com.
Oar Keeper
An innovative Rope Seat feature that is the first of its kind. This addition provides the rower with an alternative to the common practice of shipping oars under knees. Rope Seat Oar Keeper feature is intended to be used only while the boat or raft is tied off, beached, anchored and/or not in motion.
